In Loving Memory

Barbara Hazzard
Hesed Community founder, Sister Barbara Hazzard, made her Benedictine vows in 1981 and built an incredibly faithful community where men and women have come to learn Christian meditation in the tradition of John Main to help their personal spiritual journey to deepen and respond with love to the world and within the tradition of their heritage.

Donna Lack
Donna joined the Hesed Board in 2017 and was the main organizer of the community at the time of her sudden passing on Thanksgiving morning in 2023. She participated with Hesed since 2007, and became an oblate in late 2015. She had a variety of meditative practices over 40 years which brought her inner calmness and a deepened Christian faith. She was committed to the Rule of St. Benedict and loved spending time with her family.

Conchita Taylor
Chita was a long time member of Hesed and a faithful meditator to the very end of her life, well into her 90s. When she first became involved with Hesed she lived in the Bay Area, but in her final days, she joined us online from the Philippines. We have been blessed to have her experience uniting Sr. Barbara’s original vision with meditators who came after her.
